Schedrix Allergen Matrix

See every item's allergens worked out from its production BOM (bill of materials, i.e. the recipe), at every level. Spot items whose allergen list is missing one, or has one its recipe doesn't, and have a named person confirm each list. Free.

What it does

Schedrix™ Allergen Matrix is a free app for food and drink manufacturers on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It works out each item's allergens from its recipe, through every level of sub-recipe, and shows them in one matrix: items down the side, allergens across the top.

Most sites keep an allergen list on each item, typed in by hand. The matrix compares that list with the allergens its recipe brings in, so you can see where they differ: an item whose list is missing an allergen one of its components has, or a component whose allergens nobody has entered yet. Show Sources shows the path each allergen takes through the recipe, and Allergen Where-Used shows every item a single allergen reaches.

Recipes are read for a date you choose, the way a production order would use them: the certified version active on that date, and the BOM lines valid then. So you can check next month's recipe change before it starts.

The app keeps no allergen list of its own: a wrong list is fixed at source, on the component or in the recipe. Cross-contact on a shared line is entered on the item itself and shows as On item only, outside the confirmed list.

A worked-out list stays marked "Not checked" until a named person with the Allergen Matrix Confirm permission set confirms it. Confirmation History keeps who confirmed each list and when. If the list changes later, the item goes back to Not checked. Export to Excel writes the matrix with each item's status and who confirmed it.

For planners, Allergen Changeovers shows the week's released production orders on each line and counts each order that follows one carrying an allergen it doesn't have. Lines are your work or machine centres, or your locations. The counts are for planning: your site's own specification and processes decide what happens between two orders.

The app only reads your items, recipes and production orders. It never changes them, including each item's own allergen list. It never sends your recipes or allergen lists anywhere.

Key features

  • Allergens worked out from production BOMs at every level, for any date.
  • Items whose own allergen list differs from their recipe, picked out.
  • Confirmation by a named person, cleared when the list changes.
  • Show Sources and Where-Used to trace any allergen, and Export to Excel.
  • A weekly view of allergen changeovers on each line.

Good to know

The matrix supports your allergen management and works within your HACCP plan. It doesn't replace either, and it isn't a food safety control: your site's own specification and processes decide.

It needs Business Central Premium, for its manufacturing features (production BOMs), and an item attribute that holds each item's allergens.

It sends usage events to Capability Systems, such as how many lists were confirmed, and sends no item, recipe or allergen records; Business Central adds your tenant ID and environment name. The privacy policy says what is sent and how long it is kept.

The app is free, with no paid tier. Schedrix Production Sequencing, our scheduling app, proposes a running order for each line under your changeover rules. Open Schedrix in the app takes you to it, or to our website if it isn't installed.
